I just loved having this speaker on our trip!! It is 3 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/2" depth...takes 3 AAA batteries. It is very lightweight. It will play 24 hours of music on just those 3 batteries. (Keep in mind that you still have to recharge your iPod)
It was so portable and the sound was great....I'm not a sound expert, but to my ears it has very good sound. It will be especially great to use in Europe, no adapter plug necessary! YES!
It is made by Altec Lansing ....sells for $30....it's called the Orbit-MP3.

yeah the Orbit is great. $25 at Target. i use it for traveling since i'm not near the ipod most of the time i really don't mind if it's mono instead of stereo - also allows the speaker to be more compact and have a single, larger cone (instead of 2 lame mini ones). decent sound; even better if you stash it in an empty drawer for a little more acoustic reflection (3-6dB increase).
