A visit to Gettysburg.....Dr. Z on the road.

Last weekend we decided to take a road trip...the first one that Paul has
taken since his stroke in November of 2008.
When we were at Kessler for rehab another patient mentioned that
they had been to Gettysburg recently and had a great time.
Gettysburg had been one of the places that Paul had wanted to go
and we never made it.
So off we went!

The Gettysburg Park Service offers guided tours.....DRIVING guided tours.
Perfect for someone with major mobility issues.
We lined up Jeff Kelly.
He was fabulous....and he DROVE.
Making him even more fabulous!!

He spent 2 1/2 hours driving us from site to site....he outlined the 3 day battle.
It was amazing....and I didn't even think I was interested in the Civil War.
The battlefields have been maintained as close as possible to the way they were in the summer
of 1863. Jeff told us that a group of people had the foresight right after the battle
to buy the land to preserve the sites.
Check out the official site..... Gettysburg Foundation.

I've been a Dr Z fan for years, and it warms my heart to here that he about and enjoying himself. I still miss reading his columns every week.
